Quincy Catholic Academy, preschool through grade 8 and the ELA Teacher Diane. The thirteen students voted to fundraise for charities. The students brainstormed fundraising ideas and prepared a slide presentation for the principal and the students received his backing. The work begun and the students created slide presentations for appropriate grade levels and spoke to each class , made donation boxes, brought in unused but new toys to raffle off and sold snacks to the student body during break time. Younger students have donated their allowance money and students will casually donate extra money that they have; and the faculty and staff will contribute as well.
Massachusetts Humane Society was one of the chosen charities by the students and was presented a KIND GENEROUS donation of $820.00. We are so so grateful for these kids for doing a great job and working hard at presenting and fundraising for a GREAT CAUSE IN HELPING ALL ANIMALS ! Fundraising is not an easy job to do and it takes commitment and lots of ambition and these STUDENTS sure did PROVE THAT !!

The members of the fourth grade Student Council at Thomas W. Hamilton Primary School in Weymouth donated $800 to the Massachusetts Humane Society will be used to ensure animal safety and protection. The students created and worked at their school store every Thursday in an effort to raise these funds. Recently, some of the Student Council members researched charities to donate the money to, and they ultimately decided to help the animals. They are very proud that they were able to give back to their community!
Wow what a great day, and we are proud of these kids too. These kids are the future to become animal rights/welfare advocates in the years ahead. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS !! 6-11-2019

In celebrating and promoting May National Pet Month, Big Y raised thousands of dollars through a register-based Hang Tag campaign to benefit local animal welfare charities through The Hometown Foundation.
